Billing & Credits
Plans, what consumes a credit, and how the rule-scan quota works.
You will finish this page knowing exactly what you pay for, what spends credits, and how to read your ledger down to the individual charge.
Everything here lives at Settings → Billing. Billing actions require the Admin role.
The two meters
Argus meters two different things, and it is worth keeping them apart.
| Meter | What it limits | Resets |
|---|---|---|
| Rule scans | Deterministic scans, SAST, SCA, secrets, IaC, container | Monthly, with your billing period |
| Credits | AI work, agentic scans, fixes, PR reviews, Ask AI, re-verification | Granted monthly; purchased credits do not expire with the period |
A rule-only scan consumes a rule-scan slot and zero credits.
Plans
| Free | Pro | Team | Enterprise | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Price | $0 | $49 / mo | $199 / mo | Custom |
| Credits / month | 100 | 1,000 | 5,000 | Custom |
| Rule scans / month | 10 | Unlimited | Unlimited | Unlimited |
| Projects | 1 | Unlimited | Unlimited | Unlimited |

Subscribing
Click Subscribe on Pro or Team. Checkout runs through Razorpay as a real recurring monthly subscription, and your plan credits are granted each cycle.
When a subscription is active, a strip at the top of the page shows the plan, its monthly credits and its status, with a Cancel subscription button. Cancelling reverts you to Free at the end of the current cycle. You keep what you have paid for.
Switch to Free cancels the subscription.
For Enterprise, click Contact sales.
Credits
What consumes credits
| Action | Credits |
|---|---|
| Deep Agentic scan | 10 |
| Agentic fix, Assign to Agent | 15 |
| AI pull-request review | 5 |
| Auto-fix draft | 5 |
| Standard scan | 3 |
| Ask AI question | 2 |
| Re-verify findings with AI (per batch, up to 25 findings) | 2 |
| Rule-only scan | 0 |
Two rules make the meter predictable:
- Charged on success. If no AI provider is configured, or the call fails, nothing is charged. Re-verification and fix drafts only bill when they produce a result.
- Failed scans are refunded. If a scan fails, its charge is returned and the rule-scan slot it consumed is restored. The refund happens exactly once, even if the failure is reported more than once.
Buying credits
Top up any time, one-time purchases, no subscription required.
| Package | Price | Credits |
|---|---|---|
| Starter | $5 | 100 |
| Growth | $20 | 500 |
| Scale | $50 | 1,500 |
Click Buy and complete Razorpay checkout. The price is derived server-side from the package you chose, the browser never sends an amount. Credits are added once the payment is confirmed, usually within a few seconds, so the confirmation reads "Payment received, N credits will appear in your balance shortly." rather than claiming they are already there.
Promo codes
Enter a code in the Promo code field and click Apply. A valid code renders as a chip you can remove; an invalid one is rejected immediately.
A promo applies to your next credit purchase or to a plan subscription. On a plan, a promo is applied as bonus credits on your first month rather than a price reduction.
Running low
When your balance drops below 20 credits, the card shows Running low in amber. Argus also sends a one-time nudge, an in-app notification and, if Slack is connected, a Slack message, as the balance crosses that line. It does not repeat below the threshold.
At zero credits, AI actions stop and return an insufficient-credits error. Deterministic scanning keeps working until your rule-scan quota runs out.
Reading your ledger
Credit history at the bottom of the Billing page lists every grant, spend and adjustment.
Columns: Date · Reason · Delta · Balance. Positive deltas are green with a +, negative deltas red. The reference type and id sit under the reason, so you can trace a charge back to the exact scan, fix or question. 20 entries per page.
From the API:
curl -sS -X POST "$ARGUS_URL/api/graphql" \
-H "Authorization: Bearer argus_live_xxx" \
-H "content-type: application/json" \
-d '{"query":"{ ListCreditLedger(page: 1, limit: 50) { total entries { createdAt reason delta balanceAfter refType refId } } }"}'
Common reasons you will see:
| Reason | Meaning |
|---|---|
grant:monthly | Your plan's monthly credit grant |
scan:standard / scan:deep_agentic | A scan charge |
refund:scan-failed | A failed scan refunded |
ask-ai | An Ask AI question |
Checking your balance and period
{
GetBilling {
planName priceUsd
creditBalance monthlyCredits
ruleScansUsed ruleScansLimit
periodStart periodEnd
}
}
ruleScansLimit is null on unlimited plans. The billing period runs 30 days from periodStart; when it rolls over, your rule-scan counter resets and your plan's monthly credits are granted.
List the plan catalogue with ListPlans.
You can also ask in Slack: /argus credits returns your balance, plan and rule scans used this period.
Data retention
Retention is a billing-adjacent promise worth knowing: scan results and finding history are kept for 180 days by default, configurable from 30 to 3650 days at Settings → Priority weights → Data Retention. Records past the window are permanently deleted. There is no separate archive to restore from. Settings → Archive shows the current window, the cutoff date, and how many scan jobs are pending deletion.
